If you’re ready to advance your career as a Technologist in Surgery–Certified (TS-C), Clinical Skills Institute’s online Surgical Technologist program is designed to help you reach your goals. Prior healthcare experience is recommended but not required.

Our program is delivered in partnership with American Allied Health and is designed to prepare you for the AAH certification exam. You will gain a strong foundation in sterile techniques, surgical instrumentation, patient safety, and operating room procedures.

In as little as 3 months, our 100% online, self-paced program equips you with the knowledge needed to successfully pass the AAH certification exam and take the next step toward a surgical technologist career.

After passing the AAH exam, students are required to complete their clinical experience by securing an internship at a hospital or surgical facility and logging 125 surgical cases to fulfill certification requirements. After completing internship, you can work as a surgical technologist in any hospital nation-wide.

Clinical Skills Institute provides guidance, documentation, and support to help you navigate this process. However, students are responsible for identifying and securing their own internship site to log attendance in 125 surgical cases.
Issuing Authorities
After completing this surgical tech training program, you'll have the opportunity to take the leading national/industry-recognized certification exam(s) in this fast-growing field.
National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) – Tech in Surgery-Certified (NCCT) Certification Requirements
Any student who successfully completed this program either live on campus or online and are interested in pursuing the NCCT (TS-C) national certification exam must meet the following criteria to achieve certification: 1. Successfully meet all the requirements of the program and be issued a Surgical Technology certificate of completion from Auburn University, 2. Complete a mandatory externship where you are required to complete 125 surgical cases, as verified by the clinical site using NCCT’s Tech in Surgery Critical Skills form. You are eligible for our placement team to assist you in coordinating your mandatory externship during your program. Please note: Completion of an externship is required in order to be eligible to sit for the Tech in Surgery–Certified (TS-C) certification exam.
Nationally Certified Surgical Technologist (NRST)
Offered through the American Allied Health or AAH, CSI's program will prepare you to crush the certification so you can proudly be designated as a Nationally Certified Surgical Technologist or NRST. You'll then be able to put "NRST" after your name on your resume, business cards and more!
